What can I expect during a physiotherapy consultation?
An initial assessment will be conducted by the physiotherapist. It will begin with a discussion about the problem you are experiencing and other aspects of your health. The Physiotherapist will assess the pain, movement and strength of your problem area. It is very likely the Physiotherapist will be able to provide you with a diagnosis of your main problem and will instruct you as to the best course of action.

The session will involve some treatment which may consist of massage, joint mobilisation, strapping and exercise therapy. The Physiotherapist will continue to treat and monitor your progress over time and will refer to other specialties if indicated.
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
No. Physiotherapists are primary healthcare practitioners which means patients can access their care without a referral from a GP or specialist. The physiotherapist will thoroughly assess your condition and will arrange a suitable treatment plan for you to reach your goals.

We do accept referrals from GP and specialists who may want you to receive treatment for a specific injury, condition or surgical procedure.
What are your payment options?
We accept cash, debit and credit card payments including American Express. If you have private health with extras cover we are able to swipe your card on the day and access your rebate so you will only pay the gap fee.
Is physiotherapy claimable on medicare?
Generally, no. Medicare does provide some people with a Physiotherapy rebate for appointments through the Chronic Disease Management program. A GP will need to assess your eligibility and provide a referral for this program. Please bring your referral to your appointment. Medicare only provides some of the cost of your appointment so there is a gap fee for each appointment. Currently the gap fee is $54 for initial assessment and $49 for subsequent visits.
How long is an appointment?
Physiotherapy initial assessments are 45 minutes.
Follow-up appointments can be either 30 minutes or 45 minutes depending on what suits you best.
Rehabilitation initial assessments are 45 minutes.
Follow-up appointment can be made for 30 minutes, 45 minutes or you can attend a 45 minute session in the gym at the same time as other patients. Your physiotherapist will be treating no more than 3 people at once in the gym.
What should I bring?
Bring with you all referrals and scans if you have copies of them. In most cases we will be able to apply to access your scans online.
What should I wear?
You should wear comfortable loose fitting clothing.
How do I join a rehabilitation session in the gym?
To join a rehabilitation class you need to have an individual session with a physiotherapist so they can develop a suitable program for you. You can attend a shared gym session whenever you feel confident and ready you will continue to have close supervision by your physiotherapist.
Are you wheelchair friendly?
Yes the clinic is wheelchair accessible with a disability access bathroom fitted with safety rails.
Where do I park?
There are no patient car parks available on site. However, there are a number of car parks in the surrounding area as well as street parking. The picture shows the closest car parks highlighted in blue.
Please remember that Whitehorse Road is a clearway on both sides at different times of day.
